Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies the Randcore store sets, what each one does, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They let the site remember things between pages and visits, such as keeping you signed in or holding the items in your basket. Some cookies are essential for the site to work. Others are optional and would only run if you agree to them.
This policy also covers similar technologies such as session storage and tokens used by our content delivery and security provider, which work in the same way as cookies for the purposes described here.
How we treat consent
We follow the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA). Cookies that are strictly necessary to provide the service you have asked for do not require your consent, because without them the store cannot function. We do not currently set any analytics or marketing cookies. If and when we add cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first, and you will be able to refuse them and still use the store normally.
Cookies we set, and why
Strictly necessary
These cookies are required for the store to operate. They keep your session active, remember your basket, and protect actions such as logging in and checking out. They do not track you across other websites and are not used for marketing. Because the store cannot work without them, they are set without consent under POPIA and ECTA.
- PHPSESSID: maintains your session on the server so the site recognises you as you move between pages.
- PrestaShop session and cart cookies: the store runs on PrestaShop, which sets cookies to hold your basket contents, your sign-in state, and security tokens that guard form submissions. These expire when your session ends or after a short period.
Security and content delivery (Cloudflare)
We use Cloudflare to deliver the site quickly and to protect it against fraud and malicious traffic. Cloudflare may set cookies that help it tell legitimate visitors apart from automated abuse and keep the connection secure. These support the safety and availability of the store.
Analytics and marketing
We do not run any analytics or marketing cookies at present. If we add a tool of that kind in future, it will only run after you have agreed, and we will update this policy to name the tool and explain what it measures before it is switched on. You will be able to refuse it and still use the store normally.
Managing or refusing cookies
You can control cookies on this site through your browser, and through a consent banner where one is shown.
- Your browser: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies through its settings. You can refuse all cookies, delete existing ones, or set the browser to warn you before a cookie is stored. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the store from working, such as the basket and checkout.
- Consent banner: where a consent banner is shown, it lets you accept or refuse optional cookies, and you can reopen it to change your choice. Refusing optional cookies does not affect the strictly necessary ones needed to shop and check out.
The help section of your browser explains how to manage cookies for that browser. The steps differ between Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and others. As a rule, look under Settings, then Privacy or Security, then Cookies, where you can view, block or clear stored cookies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the cookies we use change or if the law changes. The date below shows when it was last revised. Where a change introduces optional cookies, we will ask for your consent before they are set.
